The Call

The Selkie in this painting represents the call to where she feels rooted but finds ambivalence to be a painful obstacle to overcome as she feels another call to the human world as well.  While this call is driven by her curiosity and promise of fresh possibilities, her roots to the ocean and her kin are undeniably deep and a sacrifice must be made for either decision. This feeling of never feeling completely at peace with what path to choose is an important crossroads in life.  How to balance the path for growth and inner peace as well as what benefits one's core group  many times requires personal sacrifices and compromises.  This is not necessarily a negative thing, but rather, a call to be selfless and self loving at the same time,  a very thin line to walk, but a beautiful aspiration to live for.
